PRACTICE:

‘Nick Veint Architect Ltd’ was established in 2015 in order to create a design focused practice that produces quality architecture reflecting a personal design approach.

The practice is currently focused on new residential work, interiors and alterations, and boutique commercial projects.

PRACTICE DIRECTOR:

Nick Veint: BArch (hons 1) / BAS / BA / Registered Architect / ANZIA

I’ve been working in architecture since the year 2000 and have a wide range of experience in projects of all scales across many different typologies; including residential, commercial, and public buildings.

Nick Veint

After finishing my architectural studies at the end of 1999, I returned to work in Queenstown, having grown up in Glenorchy, before travelling to the Netherlands to live and work for a year.

I returned to Auckland in 2002, working at JASMAX on commercial and infrastructural projects before starting work at ‘daniel marshall architect’, mainly on high-end residential projects.

In 2007 I moved to Spain with my wife, where I worked for Estudio Vazquez Consuegra, an internationally renowned architecture studio in Seville. Returning to NZ in early 2011, I worked again for DMA before establishing my own practice.

DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

The aim of NVA is to create contemporary spaces that generate a rich spatial experience using materiality and texture, light and shade, landscape and outlook, while meeting the functional requirements of the brief.

The Integration of architecture fully within the site or context is another important design driver that can allow outdoor spaces to be incorporated with living spaces, to develop the space beyond the room.

A belief in sustainability in design begins at the concept stage, making use of the resources available on site, selecting appropriate materials, and using space as efficiently as possible.

THE DESIGN PROCESS

Every project is specific; architectural design is a function of the requirements of the client and their brief, the site, the surrounding context, and budget.

I work closely with clients to achieve the best possible result to meet their requirements. The value of an architect is to see your project with ‘fresh eyes’; to work within the budget, site constraints and the brief, to provide creative design solutions.

Architecture is a collaborative process and communication is a fundamental part of a successful project, both during the design stages as well as during construction. The practice works to ensure that the design and process are clearly communicated and accurate documentation is provided for construction.

At each stage of the design process, a client will be issued with current plans, images or models for approval before subsequent stages begin.

Engaging an architect to oversee the project from concept design through detailing and during construction will allow a client to achieve the best possible end result, utilizing the architect’s expertise and experience in design and construction and the consenting process.

Please contact me to discuss your project in more detail.
